WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin this week helped to celebrate a handful of green Malvern businesses which have taken positive action on climate change.
The MP joined members of Poolbrook and West Malvern Women’s Institutes to hand – deliver awards to four environmentally-conscious organisations.
The awards were part of a national Climate Coalition initiative to encourage the Government to act on climate change to and ratify the Paris Agreement.
Harriett accompanied WI climate ambassador Julia Goodfellow-Smith making awards to Malvern Theatre, Deja Vue, on Belle Vue Terrace, Malvern’s Waitrose store and Malvern Cube.
Harriett said: “The UK has played a leading role in helping to shape and secure the Paris Agreement and encourage action on climate change at home and abroad.
“It was great to spend to spend time with local members of the Women’s Institute helping to recognise that every little effort counts and we have some excellent examples of good practice in the very heart of Malvern.
Julia added: “The WI is grateful to the Government for planning to ratify the Paris Agreement by the end of this year. This is a global agreement made in Paris last year to limit the extent of global warming.
“It is now up to all of us, with the support of the Government, to take action to combat climate change. We are grateful to individuals and organisations who have started this process, and are delighted to be able to thank them in this way.”
