WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the latest employment figures announced today (March 16) showing that employment numbers remain strong in the county.
People claiming benefits including Jobseeker’s Allowance and Universal Credit in West Worcestershire numbered 511 – 53 lower than the same period last year.
Harriett commented: “The latest ONS figures show that the number of people locally claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance remains at low levels although there has been a slight increase this month owing to seasonal factors.
“However, each week I meet with companies who are taking on new staff and this week it is National Apprenticeship Week celebrating the creation of new job-training opportunities for young people.
“We are doing all we can to help every person looking for a job to get the security of a regular pay packet and this will continue as we work towards full employment in West Worcestershire.”
