WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has today welcomed news that the Prime Minister will push for a General Election to be held in June.
The House of Commons will be asked to vote for the proposal and if more than two thirds agree, the election will take place on June 8.
Harriett supported the proposals and added: “The Prime Minister has reluctantly decided to call a General Election to secure a clear mandate for her Government as it seeks to leave the European Union.
“We need an election now to secure a strong and stable leadership to see us through Brexit and beyond. This is a one-off chance to hold an election while the European Union agrees its negotiating position and before detailed talks begin.
“The choice facing the country at this election is all about leadership and I look forward to supporting Prime Minister Theresa May as she makes her case to the House of Commons today and the whole country, in June.”
