HOUSING MINISTER Brandon Lewis has praised Malvern Town Council on its progress to develop a planning blueprint for the town.
And the Minister confirmed that the Government is currently carrying out a review of the way it allocates funds to councils to make sure housing development properly benefits local communities.
Harriett wrote to the Department for Communities and Local Government on behalf of Malvern Town Council, which raised questions about how it can get access to funds pledged by developers as part of planning applications.
The Department confirmed that a review into the Community Infrastructure Levy is underway and changes will be recommended to help communities benefit better from housing and growth projects.
Harriett said: “I was happy to raise this issue with the Department on behalf of Malvern Town Council and was pleased with the response.
“It was also good to see the warm words from the Minister about the progress Malvern has made towards developing its neighbourhood plan and I would encourage as many communities as possible to follow Malvern’s lead.
“I am sure that I will raise this matter further when I next meet with the planning team at Malvern Hills District Council and make sure that the town’s views are taken into account when allocating section 106 funds towards local projects
