WELCOME SUNSHINE returned to the popular Welland Steam Fair this weekend with thousands of people expected to flock to the annual heritage event.
West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin formally opened the fair which has been running every year since 1964 drawing visitors and exhibitors from all over the world.
Last year’s event had to be curtailed after bad weather but organisers were predicting record crowds to see a wide range of attractions including steam engines, classic motorbikes, military vehicles and even a farmers market.
Harriett commented: “Everyone was relieved to see the sun shining on Friday at the formal opening of what has to be one of the county’s premier visitor attractions.
“I have been impressed by the growing range of exhibits offering so much more for visitors from all over the world.
“The gathering has been a mecca for steam enthusiasts but growing attractions like the antique motorbikes and scooters show that there is ever-increasing interest for the show.
I hope that the weather stays fine and we get to welcome visitors from all over the world to this wonderful Worcestershire attraction.”
