WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her support to a loans scheme which helps local people to buy emergency items like white goods or event bus passes.
The Tenbury-based scheme has already helped nearly 100 people and it is looking to expand its operations into Malvern.
It has also launched a savings scheme to encourage local pupils to save for the future and Harriett has written to colleagues in Westminster and the Treasury asking for ways to help the scheme.
Harriett commented: “No Interest Loans Schemes can be a vital lifeline to people who need to make an emergency purchase and I met with Tenbury NILS’s Jane Newton to see what I can do to help support the expansion of the scheme.
“The scheme was started by an anonymous benefactor but now I have written to a number of people including my colleagues in the Treasury to see what we can do to help.
“I was particularly interested in the school savings scheme and will be talking to my contacts to do what we can to help support this scheme for more pupils across the county.”
