TWO COUNTY MPs have offered their backing for a plan to improve road connections for commuters in Pershore.
The new link road connecting the town to the A44 has been debated for many years but it is now part of a formal bid for Government funds by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.
Westminster colleagues Harriett Baldwin MP and Nigel Huddleston MP were briefed on the plans which will help ease traffic for lorries and commercial vehicles towards the motorway.
It is hoped that the new road will also attract more businesses to Pershore creating new jobs as well as helping to cope with the extra traffic created by new housing in the town.
Harriett commented: “This is a much-needed road project that will help Pershore residents and businesses."
“I back this project whole-heartedly and am pleased to see the local authorities putting in a formal bid for funding to deliver it.
Nigel added: “Like Harriett, I have had constituents raising their concerns about increasing congestion and as welcome the strategic attempts to plan for future growth.
“We are keen to back this plan and look forward to pressing the case for further investment in Worcestershire’s major roads in the coming weeks and months.”
