Last Friday, 17th November, West Worcestershire Conservatives met for our Annual Dinner in the splendid surroundings of Stanbrook Abbey Hotel. Our guest of honour was the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, who broke off from his preparations for this week's Autumn Statement in the House of Commons, to give us a rousing speech raising morale for the next twelve months promising to be amongst the most consequential in our party and the country's history.
Jeremy, although he had to rush off back to London to prepare for this Wednesday's events, not to mention multiple media events, had time to take some questions from our members. Questions ranged from HS2 to the role of small businesses to the recent controversies surrounding Suella Braverman and Nadine Dorries. There was a noticeable new fire in the belly of members following the Chancellor's speech. We have had a difficult few months and no doubt there are plenty more challenges to come, but members were left in no doubt that the Chancellor and his neighbour in Downing Street do not lack fight and remain confident in our ability to prevail when the election is finally called.
After Jeremy left auctions were held for a number of generously donated items alongside a raffle. Both raised an impressive £2800.
